Blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids is a surgical correction of the eyelids, the purpose of which is to eliminate the overhang of the skin fold of the eyelids. The widespread opinion that the operation in the region of the upper eyelids is simpler than the lower eyelids does not correspond to the truth. Especially this zone is such that, very often with a simple removal of excess skin, the cosmetic effect is either zero or vice versa, the appearance of the patient does not change for the better.
Our clinic has developed a comprehensive approach to solving the problem of age-related changes in the upper eyelids.
If the patient only has excess skin, without overhanging the skin of the eyebrow, then in this case the excision of the "extra" skin is actually performed. But very often, especially with deeply planted eyes, the cosmetic defect is due not to the true excess of the skin, but to the lowering of the eyebrow. In this case, we offer the patient a lifting of the eyebrows without performing an excision of the eyelid skin.
Operation of blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthesia and lasts from 40 minutes to 1.5 hours, so the vestigial period proceeds easily. After the operation, the patient is monitored for 1-2 hours in the clinic and then discharged home.
Edema after surgery can last from several days to 2 weeks, for the reduction of which cold compresses and special ointments are used.
The sutures are removed after 7-8 days.
If all the surgeon's recommendations are followed, after 5-10 days after the operation, patients can return to their usual lifestyle.
Contrary to the existing misconception, the operation of blepharoplasty does not lead to impaired vision.
